Healing Tides Counseling is accepting a limited amount of new clients for therapy during the Coronavirus Pandemic. All appointments will be conducted over HIPPA compliant Telehealth video services or over the phone.
We specialize in providing treatment for: Trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, LGBTQIA+ community members, and gender affirming care.
We all have experienced some trauma in our lives. Your suffering is valid and is welcome at Healing Tides Counseling. Experiences perceived as traumatic are unique to each individual; there is no objective definition of what can and can’t be considered traumatic. Often, trauma can lead to feelings of shame and judgement making it really difficult to talk about. Trauma can also be difficult to process and heal from because our bodies, doing the best they can to protect us from potential danger, trigger our nervous systems into “fight or flight” mode. Our bodies physically change when we experience trauma and the more often we experience trauma, the more that it is ingrained into our body and mind.
Healing Tides Counseling supports clients through the process of creating a safer container to focus on processing their trauma. When clients feel ready to process their trauma, a type of therapy called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be performed to support the natural healing process of your mind to heal from trauma.
I offer safe and supportive counseling for individual clients geared toward your specific needs and goals.

Shanako is an incredibly genuine human who truly wants to help people. I had a gender consult with Shanako and I felt so heard and supported in my goals. She has created an LGBTQ+ safe space and I appreciate Healing Tides Counseling so much.
Shanako truly cares about the clients' well being. She offers a sliding scale. A lot of people that are affected by trauma most deeply are folks that can't afford the co-pay or expensive hourly rate. She makes it possible to get help.
Shanako's presence is filled with warmth, genuine caring and authentic empathy with curiosity of possibilities. Her commitment to client centered approach, anti-oppressive practice and social justice makes her an excellent therapist and advocate. ...more
